Genesis Theme Framework – version 1.1.1 is now available. This update addresses a few minor bugs that were in the previous version, and also includes a few elements of additional functionality. It’s always suggested you update to the latest version, and with Genesis, updating is a simple thing to do.

How to Update to Genesis v1.1.1

Assuming you haven’t made any changes to the core Genesis files, updating to the latest version of the Genesis Theme Framework is very easy. If you are running Genesis v1.1 you will see a notification in your dashboard that there is a new version of Genesis available. Just follow the instructions and you will be able to update in seconds. This is the main reason we’ve encouraged everyone to make changes through the child theme, as updating the Genesis Theme Framework is THAT easy.

Here’s What’s Been Added to Genesis v1.1.1

• Internationalize the date in the nav menu
• Fixed problem with SEO doctitle when static page selected
• Added a ‘mask’ parameter to the Custom Field Redirect tool
• Fixed Twitter widget bug by passing an array to array_slice() on line 55
• Fixed bug in post comments shortcode
• Fixed potential bug in breadcrumb.php
• Added an ‘order’ parameter to the Featured Post Widget
• Initialized $rss variable in the genesis_nav_right() filter function
• Added a $loop_counter to the standard and custom loop functions
• Fixed potential image functions silent errors
• Replaced default sidebar with text boxes in lieu of pre-populated widgets
• Made “Full width header” the default theme setting option
• Removed Secondary Nav from loading on default
• Removed pages from loading by default in Primary Nav
• Fixed Featured Post/Page post markup inconsistency
• Fixed several silent errors
• Wrapped footer text in paragraph tags

Genesis Theme Framework – version 1.1 is now available. This update addresses a number minor bugs that were in the previous version, and also includes a lot of cool features – the best of which is future automatic updates. It’s always suggested you update to the latest version, and with Genesis, updating is easy to do.

Before You Update to Genesis v1.1

It’s always advisable to make a backup of your current /genesis/ directory just to be safe. You can simply rename it /genesis_backup/ and then upload the new /genesis/ directory – that way in the event something goes wrong, you still have your working directory.

How to Update to Genesis v1.1

On your server, simply replace the /genesis/ directory in your /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server, with the new one. In other words, you will be replacing the entire Genesis parent theme folder with the new v1.1 version. This is the main reason we’ve encouraged everyone to make changes through the child theme, as updating the Genesis Theme Framework is THAT easy.

Genesis Theme Framework – version 1.0.1 is now available and we are very happy with the first week of our launch.  Our beta period proved to iron out most (if not all) of the obvious bugs. Most of the things that have been put into version 1.0.1 are just additional features, and updating to this version is a breeze.
